Russell Shilling, Ph.D. has been involved in developing “serious games” for over 30 years. A retired Navy Captain, he was a program officer at both Office of Naval Research (ONR) and the Defense Advanced Research Programs Agency (DARPA) where he developed games and VR applications in STEM, medical training, pandemic planning, and mental health. He was the original sound designer for the America’s Army video game and developed award-winning programs for military children with Sesame Street. After military service, he served as the executive director for STEM in the Obama Administration and co-chaired a White House committee on games.
