Animal Crossing is possibly the game success story of the pandemic, providing a deep compelling experience for our socially distanced society. But why this game? What in the design elements is making it so comfortable? What in the design should make us critical of that comfort? In this talk, Nick Fortugno uses Animal Crossing to take a hard theoretic look at the concepts of faith in systems and procedural rhetoric from a very ambivalent perspective.
